I want to start at the very beginning
Start with Book I — Roots
Begin with creation and follow the journey through the Torah. Abraham, Jacob, Joseph, Moses, the Exodus, the Law, and the Wilderness.
If you want to experience the entire journey in order, this is where it begins.
... But I've started the Bible before and know the basics pretty well
Start with Book II — Ascent
If you already know many of the stories of Genesis and the Exodus... because you always start there... and find those to be "too familiar," Ascent moves quickly into Israel taking the land. For many, this is where the unfamiliar begins.
This may be the best place to discover what The Covenant Chronicles does differently.
... I've read the Bible before, but the prophets have never made sense
Start with Book III — Crossroads
Israel begins to collapse—and suddenly Jonah, Amos, Hosea, Isaiah, Micah, and the other prophets have an audience, a circumstance, and a reason for speaking.
If the fracture of the nation of Israel and the prophets have always seemed difficult to follow, start here.
... I just want something practical for life right now
Start with Book V — Wisdom & Psalms
Not part of the narrative, this book serves a different purpose.
Job wrestles with suffering. Proverbs is arranged as a field manual for everyday living. Ecclesiastes confronts the seeming emptiness of life. The Psalms are faithfully re-prayed for your voice.
You don't need to know the history that came before or after. If you're looking for wisdom and worship you can immediately draw from, start here.
